One of Richmond, Virginia’s most beloved historic neighborhoods, Westover Hills sits on the south banks of the James River. People love Westover Hills for its striking topography and accessibility to the Buttermilk Trail and the river. It’s a great neighborhood, and you’re only five minutes from downtown. Local development began after the construction of the Boulevard Bridge, nicknamed the Nickel Bridge for its original toll price. It was built in 1925 to connect Byrd Park to Westover Hills to make the Westover Hills area more accessible for development. Over eight decades later, this neighborhood is now brimming with life.

Residents run and bike along sloping hillsides with lush forests and mature landscaping. Narrow streets, frequently one-way, crisscross through a dense layout of homes. This layout limits noisy thru-traffic and provides residents a sense of quiet and seclusion. Most of the houses in Westover Hills were built between 1925 and 1965, and the neighborhood features a remarkably diverse range of architecture. An array of Colonial and Tudor revivals, Craftsman and brick-and-slate Georgian houses are all located within a few blocks.

Half of all residents own their homes, typically featuring three to four bedrooms and averaging around 2,000 square feet. Inventory in Westover Hills is extremely limited. Homes usually sell within 19 days of being put on the market, and prices reflect this high demand and low supply, ranging from $350,000 up to $825,000. Close to the water on winding Riverside Drive, houses and lakeside estates can cost millions of dollars.
